We take pleasure in listing the new seven wonders of India. Please find a short description of each wonder below the picture. We are presenting the
top three seven wonders of India in this post. The other wonders will follow in the next post.
Sun Temple Konark, Orissa
A magnificent piece of art on rocks that mesmerizes travelers form round the world. The temple is in form of a chariot dedicated to sun god. Its complete with fine chilled wheels and horses. though most of its old glory was lost to wars and raids in the past. But the symbol of Indian craftsmanship still stand strong. The small town of Konark is located close to the temple town of Bhubaneswar and Puri. It has a beautiful shoreline and is the centre for the grand annual dance festival famous world wide as the Konark Dance festival.
Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple
The temple of Madurai in the state of TamilNadu is a revered pilgrimage destination of Hindus in India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva in his handsome Avtaar and his wife Godess Parvati.
The temple is appreciated for its fine architecture. Most attractive features of the temple complex is the series of twelve Gopurams that are elaborately sculptured and painted.
Khajuraho - The Temple of Love
Known for its erotic carvings this temple was built around 1000 AD. It is believed that the original intentions behind making these edifices of worldly desires was to educate young men who come out of hermitages (schooling system in those times) about the family matters and love life before they settled into the society.
There are around 25 such Temples in Khajuraho spread over an area of 8 sq miles. It is said that there were once 80 such temples.
